In 2018, Elaine Buck and Beverly Mills capped a decade-long quest to understand their family history with publication of their new book, If These Stones Could Talk: African American Presence in the Hopewell Valley, Sourland Mountain, and Surrounding Regions of New Jersey. Their passion for history–in particular the way personal stories tie to a larger historical context–led to the formation of Friday Truehart Consultants. The firm provides education and genealogy consulting services to schools, community groups, and others who seek a better understanding of how the stories of our families and communities become woven into the greater societal narrative.
